OVERVIEW
Universidad Europea de Madrid has over 11,000 students spread out over its various campuses in Madrid. Its three graduate schools (IEDE Business School, Real Madrid School of University Studies-Universidad Europea de Madrid, and the School of Building) and its health clinics (training centers for students and open to the general public) are strategically located in the capital’s business areas.
The main campus, in Villaviciosa de Odón, has a prime location in a privileged setting thirty minutes from the city center.

ACADEMICS
The school is divided into seven schools: School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Architecture, School of Art and Communication, School of Engineering, School of Social Sciences and School of Sports Science.
The university offers 43 bachelor degrees and 52 double degrees, 6 of which are entirely taught in English; 92 Master's Degree programs, 8 of them 100% taught in English;; and 15 PhD programs.
Universidad Europea de Madrid also offers a new concept in Advanced Career and Technical Educatio. The college is located on Villaviciosa de Odón Campus and shares the same space and educational philosophy as other higher education programs, based on academic excellence.

School of Health Sciences
From the very first moment, students of the School of Health Sciences come into contact with real patient situations in university owned clinics as well as in the most prestigious public and private health centers in Madrid. Most of the faculty see patients and use the highest quality criteria. One of the common points of all our degree programs is teaching and transmitting patient-centered health care.
The other central point of our program is providing our future health professionals with a solid scientifi c education in tune with Evidence-based Medicine (EBM). In the twenty-fi rst century there is no room for empiricism. This is why we base our teaching on the best scientific evidence available.

Spain
Spain is located in the Southeast of Europe. It has a population of approximately 45 million inhabitants and an area of 505,957 square kilometers. With the exception of Switzerland, it is the highest country in Europe with an average altitude of 600 meters and five great mountain chains. Spain’s geographical territory is exceptional for outdoor sports, water sports and mountain sports. Its climate is variable, being hot in the summer (between 25ºC and 35ºC), cold and dry in the winter (between 0ºC and 12ºC), and mild in the spring and fall with occasional rainfall.
Spain is made up of 17 autonomous regions and is governed under a Constitutional Monarchy. While the Monarchy is hereditary, the government and president are democratically elected every four years. The offi cial language is Spanish, or Castilian, which is predominant in most of the autonomous regions. There are other co-offi cial languages, such as Basque, Catalonian and Galician. There is freedom of religion and the majority of the country is Catholic.
In 1986 Spain became part of the European Union, currently made up of 27 countries. The offi cial currency is the Euro (represented as € or Eur).
Madrid
Located in the center of the peninsula, Madrid has a population of approximately 6 million inhabitants. It is a modern capital and business center housing the most important multi-national companies. Madrid is a cosmopolitan city with an intense life, where one can enjoy a great variety of artistic and cultural activities. The open personality of its inhabitants, most of whom come from other regions, makes it easy for visitors to integrate
Madrid’s geographical location makes it easily accessible and a comfortable point from which to travel to other cities. Barajas is one of the world’s busiest airports, offering non-stop connections to a great number of destinations. The city has one of the best infrastructures, including a network of buses, trains, and a subway system that provide transit throughout the city and to surrounding towns on an extended timetable. There is a monthly transportation card with special prices for people under 21.
Banks are usually open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and automatic teller machines run 24 hours. Most businesses accept credit cards (the most accepted being Visa and MasterCard).
FOOD AND DRINK IN MADRID
A good number of dishes and recipes can be named which can be considered typical of Madrid. Among them, the Cocido Madrileño must be mentioned; a stew combining chickpeas with vegetables (cabbage, celery, carrots, turnips and potatoes) and chicken, beef and pork and which is turned into a huge succulent meal. Callos or tripe is another of the typical dishes identified with local cuisine and may be found in some of the well-known restaurants in Madrid. We must not neglect the humble and savoury Sopa de Ajo (garlic soup),Caracoles (snails), Tortilla de patatas (potato omelette), the famous recipe of Besugo al horno (baked bream), so typical in the capital in spite of its distance from the ocean, or dishes in which bacalao (cod) is the main ingredient.
Madrid's sweet tradition can be appreciated through its dessert; from torrijas(a type of French toast), typical in the springtime and likened to Holy Week, to the barquillos (rolled wafers), bartolillos con crema (a type of small pie with custard) the buñuelos (a type of fritter filled with custard whipped cream, etc.) in November, the mazapán (marzipan) and turrón (soft and hard nougat) at Christmas and the rosquillas de anís (anise-flavored doughnuts) during the festival of San Isidro.
In Madrid, as well as in the rest of Spain, the tapa (savoury titbits of a variety of dishes served as appetisers) is an old gastronomic tradition. You can find numerous establishments specialised in serving these tapas. "Ir de tapeo" (going out for tapas) is a tradition; hundreds of bars scattered throughout the streets of Madrid serve a tapa accompanied by a small glass of wine or beer.
Villaviciosa de Odón
Villaviciosa de Odón is a municipality in the western zone of the Community of Madrid in Spain, with a population of 26,000 inhabitants. The city is located 15 km west Madrid's city center, in the western zone of the metro area. Located within the city is the Spanish Air Force Museum and the Universidad Europea de Madrid.
Villaviciosa quiet lifestyle and its proximity to Madrid propagated a great urbanization development during the end of the 20th century. Also because of the proximity of the Universidad Europea de Madrid, it has become a university city with a well-developed student residential zone and entertainment. The city contains the historic Castle of Villaviciosa de Odón, built in 1756.
HOW TO GET TO UEM
By car
From the North of Madrid
We recommend that you use the M-40, take exit 36, following signs for Boadilla del Monte (M-501) and then continue in the direction of Villaviciosa de Odon. The purple signs along the M-501 highway will guide you to the University Campus. Take exit 8.
From the South of Madrid
We recommend that you use the M-50, take exit 69, following the signs for Villaviciosa de Odon (M-501). The purple signs along the M-501 highway will guide you to the University Campus. Take exit 8.
From the West of Madrid
We recommend that you use the M-50, take exit 72 (M-511 / M-501 / Boadilla del Monte / Villaviciosa de Odon / Brunete), and continue in the direction of Villaviciosa de Odon (M-501). The purple signs along the M-501 highway will guide you to the University Campus. Take exit 8.
By bus
Villaviciosa de Odon is located in the B2 zone of the Madrid public transport system. There is a monthly pass that offers unlimited travel between this and other zones, which can be purchased in tobacco shops, metro ticket offices and EMT bus stands. The youth pass offers a considerable discount. There is also a special monthly ticket available for passengers who only travel between Villaviciosa and the University (Urb. El Bosque.)
